October Going Places Event - delights audience, free tickets oversubscribed
Over 90 Going Places members enjoyed tapas and pizza at the Ember Lounge, followed by ‘Julie and Julia’ at the Westgarth Cinema in October. Due to an overwhelming response from members claiming their free tickets, a further tickets 30 were released.
A number of members let us know how much they enjoyed the night:
"Just wanted to say thanks very much for last Friday's movie night. Was great to be rewarded for not having a car for once :)"
"Just wanted to say thankyou for the great night. It was a great movie choice - but also a few other things we appreciated:
- organised after daylight savings had started (gave it a summer feel!)
- wasn't too late when we got home (9.15 I think)
- it was lovely to be able to ride our bikes, to somewhere close, engaging and with other friendly people."
"Once again the organization was faultless, and the socialising (and film) most enjoyable. What more could we ask. We're telling anyone who'll listen that they simply must sign up for Going Places - it's a really worthwhile endeavour, with great rewards."

40 -60 km rides mainly on bike paths and quiet streets for experienced cyclists. Bring lunch, snacks and water. Contact Norm on 9484 4767 to confirm start time and location (usually departs from Jika Jika).

Saturday (morning) Port Melbourne Rides (Easy)
9.30am departure – Meet at Rushall Station, returning around 1.30 pm.
Ride to Port Melbourne and back along bike paths, about 30km.

Sunday Training Rides (Medium - Hard)
Departing Sundays at Jika Jika at 9 am SHARP
Various rides, changing monthly, for 5 hours max. Rides are 40 to 100km. Rides average speed of 20-25km/hour. Please arrange attendance in advance as the rides will only run if there are takers - leader needs to know one day in advance.
